CHANGE OF STATUS It is usually possible to change status from one visa classification to another, if the following criteria are met:
1. The individual has maintained his present status;
2. The individual qualifies for the requested status; and
3. There are no immigration regulations which prohibit changing from one status to another
Even if the above three criteria are met, the immigration service often exercises their discretion in permitting such status change.
